Anybody heard anything from Canon on desktop printers for their new inks in wide format? I noticed today that the i9900 is not in the 2006 lineup (as yet...), but the i9950 is still on the UK site. They have a new "pro" model (6400). Price around here on i9900 has started to drop but nobody seems to know or be saying what's happening with it. I'm still shopping for a new colour desktop printer, and the i9900 seemed to fit what I wanted but was waiting to see what was said about the new inks...

I have an IP5200 Canon letter size printer that has the 1 picoliter droplets and long life inks - Chromalife if I recall correctly. Its a great little printer that makes -wonderful- glossy prints very quickly and quietly. If they bring all that goodness to a larger size machine I say buy one.

PMA 2006 (the Photo Marketing Association 's really big annual trade show for photography equipment manufacturers and dealers) is the last weekend of February. Anything that is going to be announced anytime soon will be officially launched there.

Well, my question got answered: two new printers, a Pixma 9000 using the Colorlife dye inks and a 10 ink pigment printer!
so the fight begins!
