View Full Version : Contact Printer from Germany
Hello everybody
I bought this antique contact printer. It is quite compact and think suitable up to 8x10. It has a height-adjustable diffuser, 4 white and one darkroom lamp, a mechanical electric timer (Tobias Baeuerle & Soehne) and an archaic dimmer and the cables don't look trustworthy either. I haven't dared to plug in the device yet. Would you replace the electrical components with modern ones? I find the device itself very interesting. Of course, a simple sheet of glass for contact sheets would be a lot easier. It should have advantages to work with such a device?
I thank you for your experiences and inputs
regards

Your biggest problem after replacing questionable wiring, will be finding contact printing paper. Enlarging paper is far too fast for this printer.
therefore...?

Have similar USA made
Replace all wiring.
Check lamp sockets
Leave the old time timers for decoration and control with modern timer

I changed to oven/fridge bulbs
Mine also has height adjustable diffusion, cropping blades, new 1/4" plate glass as OE was broken, all metal, very heavy too
I gladly paid $200 some years ago
It has a Time-O-Not
