Is anything happening around SW Pennsylvania?
Looking for classes, workshops, one-one help, etc.
Brand new to LF but interested in 35mm and MF, both film and digital.

Thanks
_Karl

I'm currently in south-central NY, about 5 hours from Pittsburgh. I plan to do some workshops on alt printing and other analog photo related stuff as restrictions are easing up in the future. I also have family in Morgantown, WV, so maybe I should look to maybe do some things there as well.

I just lost me second reply so I'll make this short and sweet. You have my interest.

I'm in SWPA - specifically in Westmoreland County about 10 minutes from New Stanton. Since Pittsburgh Filmmakers closed in 2019, I don't know if there's much around that's non-digital. There are definitely people around shooting large format (and smaller), but I don't know if there's much going on for workshops (I wish). If there is, I'd like to know about it as well. I am a member of a local photo club that's more into images and shooting than into competitions, if that's at all interesting to you.

The Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media offers a few photo classes. They do have a darkroom.

To the guy up in the tree:
Thank you. They look rather interesting and I can get there without going through the dad-gum tunnels!
They have a course in August I might try.

Bethe King:
I could care less about competitions. Yes, I'm interested.

Martiansea:
Reached a dead end when I searched for a website using your user name. Found some great mars photos, though.
If I can make a connection at Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media I'll see if they're interested.

I've never used this username on any other site or forum. My main art-related site is entropyandchaos.com (https://entropyandchaos.com). This is a mix of photo and non-photo works. The most recent entry is a photo show I did in late 2019 that was all alt process prints. I plan to update it soon with a new section of photo and teaching-related material.

Just got word that Light Work in Syracuse (https://www.lightwork.org/) is opening back up to the public soon. Very excited for this! I will be joining and hopefully this could be a potential venue in the future. At the very least, membership will be giving me access to big printers and a darkroom again. Been sorely missing that.

Found an interesting photography group right here in the area. "Westmoreland Photographers Society".
Did a photo walk with them last weekend. Interesting approach to the art. Not at all happy with my work, but I'm curious to see what the others have produced.

Mr. Sea...
Passed your message along to a dear artist friend of mine in Syracuse.
I'm dying to hear her take on entropyandchaos.com.

Planning on spending the remainder of the month in Buffalo.

I'm not far from da Burgh, south east in Fayette county, just outside Mt. Pleasant. I'd be happy to spend some time helping you.

Hello, Rick
I'll be sending you a PM shortly. Just got back from a month off (without internet or decent cellular access) so it may take me a little while to completely catch up.
Just so you know, I'm probably not the best candidate for Pastafaria.

Not a problem, we just won't go to Olive Garden.

Hey, There is a pittsburgh photographers group that meets regularly again now and is free and open. www.agworkspgh.wordpress.com
I've been a part of the group since it started and it is a great group of creative people. It is all types of photography, so you may have to endure some digital.
The meetings are mostly show and tell of images which leads to interesting discussions.
Next meeting is is Apr 3 from 6-8-30 at the cathedral of learning on Pitt campus

Thank you
I will look into it.
Just so you know, the Westmoreland Photographers Society would be open to anyone around the Pittsburgh area also.
