Hi all,

So who's the current guru for CLA'ing an old shutter?

I have an old Schneider/linhof 65mm lens in Compur #00 shutter that needs some love

thanks!

David

Flutot’s camera repair has gotten some great feedback but I have not used them as yet .

Last time I talked to Carol she wasn't taking any new business due to family illness

Have you talked to Steve Choi? Steve’s Camera Repair.

That overhaul should not be a challenge for any reasonably competent camera repair shop unless something is broken.

Can recommend following. He has CLA'ed several shutters for me at very fair charges and excellent service times:

Michael Zacks

Carol did a wonderful job with an old Ilex shutter of mine. Highly recommended!

For those of us (or maybe it's just me) who don't know who Carol is can you give a full name and contact information?

I will second the motion for Zack's in Providence RI, he just recently brought an Ilex 4 back to life for me. Was using another repair shop in the same area, they do well with SLRs and TLRs, not so much LF experience/success.

Dan Daniel Cameras just cleaned up my chrome 240mm f5.6 Symmar in Compur and did a great job. Really reasonable price I will have more for him

Then I sent it to Jason Lane (Dry Plate Manufacturer) who disassembled the individual optics and cleaned them of fairly thick milkiness. Items are now best possible. Also extremely reasonable optic service

I'm a Happy Camper, now it's on a Plaubel Peco Profia lensboard. Original Profia lens retro full restoration

Camera Techs in Seattle is an option. http://www.cameratechs.com/

They've serviced other mechanical shutters for me and will be doing a CLA on a Compure 3 for me in the coming weeks. I was quoted $159 and a couple of days in the shop for the service.

The most recent time I talked to Carol last year she told ne that her husband was in hospice care but she was still working, although at a slower pace.

She's got a 2 month waiting list and then several weeks turnaround, I just emailed with her today.

Mike Trost at phototronic.biz does nice work at a reasonable cost. He doesn't publish an email, so you have to call during business hours.
