Hello, I own a 45MXII and was wondering what the optimal condenser height settings are for 35, 120, and 4x5 are, my enlarger doesn't have a gauge.

Welcome

I don't have that newer model, perhaps get a manual

My older MX the upper bellows are fully closed for 4X5 and fully expanded for 35MM

As you expand the upper bellows when using a condenser head the illuminated area gets smaller. Basically you need the smallest area that adequately illuminates the format you are using. I think the dimensions of the Beseler scale were posted here a few years back. I have 45s heads on both of mine, so the scales are put away. You could rough up your own scale fairly easily.

Here's a pdf document that I cobbled together from various sources with the right heights for the negative stage plus photos and part number if you want to order the indicator scale.

Best,

Doremus

Awesome, thanks everyone. New to large format and just built my first darkroom. I appreciate the help!
