I own a Linhof Master Technika, recently acquired, and can't figure out what this plastic "thingy" is for. It looks like a holder for something. Any help would be appreciated.210418

On the early Technikas, including the original MT cameras, there is a small rectangular metal block by the focusing knob. The block has 2 small holes in it to accept this plastic holder. The holder accepted a special cable release that placed the plunger next to the focus knob.
Unfortunately, sometime in the very early 70s, the maker of this special cable release went out of business and no other cable release fit this plastic adapter. So, on later MT models that rectangular metal block is still on the camera but it no longer has holes in it so your plastic cable release adapter will not mount to newer MT cameras.
