I have a Linhof MasterTechnika whose front standard will not stay in place after it is withdrawn from the body. It slides on the rail after I let go of the two levers you use to pull it out. Any idea what is wrong here?

Are there notches on the inside of one of the rails? The standard should snap into place when it hits the first one of them.

Edit: I didn't read your post carefully, so this question is obviously not relevant:

Also, are you depressing the release button the whole time you're pulling the standard out?

Thanks to this forum, I have solved this problem. It was a simple matter of reorienting the eccentric washer underneath the front standard. There is a brake underneath the front standard and it clamps onto the rails when you let go of the levers. All is functioning properly now.

I may have the same problem. Can you explain further?

Remove the front standard from the rails entirely. Carefully look underneath where the dovetails are and you will see a washer between the levers that release a brake that clamps onto the rails when you release the levers. That washer has a screw in the middle that when loosened will allow you to rotate the washer. You can loosen the washer and rotate it; at a certain point when you release the levers the brake on the bottom will grab the rails and hold the front standard firmly to the rail. Holler if you need more help.

I appreciate the help. I'm buried right now and can't work on this, but will soon. Thanks.
