Anybody out there have any information on this lens?
Especially its coverage when focused at infinity.
I assume that it covers 8x10 for portraits but I have nothing to base this on.
VM lists a 16" f/3 Atelier Schnell Arbeiter Rapid Studio (Petzval) brass lens, could this be the same lens?

Yes, the same lens and it covers 8x10. It is more like 3.5 because of the aperture structure.

Agreeing with Hugo. I had one, it was similar to the Dallmeyer B series in speed (f3.5), but was a traditional Petzval design rather than the modified Dallmeyer (with reversed rear element). My version would cover 8x10 at portrait distances, but I think it was intended by Meyer to be a whole plate lens.

You might want to check out Jakub’s example here.

Hugo Meyer sold quite a lot of these in the late 90’s. At a recent auction in Europe, a complete range of these “fast workers” from a defunct studio were offered!

Hello, Hugo. I’m a bit confused about the F number of the 400mm.
I don’t own one yet but could you tell me the actual diameter of the 400mm sample?

The catalogue here says the diameter of the lens element is 103mm, which is the same as the 360mm’s.

I wonder if the catalogue is just a typo or not.

Now I have got a sample of the 360mm.
The 360mm rear element diameter is just about 100mm, the catalogue number would be the the whole element diameter, 3mm partly hidden in the lens mount.
