SA 72 on Toyo AII

Hello every one and happy new year. I was wondering if any one uses a recessed lens board with this combination. I use this lens on a flat board on my AII and I do get the back element jammed to the bellows when I shift although most of the time the amount of shift it offers me is sufficient for my purpose but still I want to know if it is worth getting the 12.5 recessed board. Love to hear from some one who has tried this lens on both of these boards.

Cheers

Hi Ramin,

I use a 65mm SA on my 45AII with the (no longer manufactured) 30mm deep recess board, which I believe would also be the ideal choice for the 72 SA. It works very well from the standpoint of camera movements, but does make it bit difficult to manipulate the controls on the shutter with big sausage fingers! The deep recess boards still pop up from time to time if you keep your eyes open (i.e. eBay #7573705321 & #7577865172)

Ramin,

I'm using it with the 12.5 board. I actually never tried it with a flat board - I just ordered the recessed board right away along with the lens. I don't use a lot of movements with this lens, although shifts seems to work fine.

I use a 65 mm Nikkor SW on my Toyo AII with the 1 inch recessed board.

After my opinion (regarding bellows movement) the shortest usable
focal lenght on a Toyo AII with a flat board is 90 mm.
