The 240mm Tele-Arton has a serial no. 107 373 93. The number is on the lens just how I typed it with spaces between the numbers. The best sources I have found place this lens much older than I suspect. The lens is coated and near mint. Any help with dating this lens? Thanks!

Spacing of digits sounds odd, a picture would be nice. In any case s/n 10737393 was made between Jan 1967 and Nov 1968, see here:http://web.archive.org/web/20121115075344/http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/service/serie.htm

And Thank Dan Fromm for rescuing this information from internet oblivion.

Yes, I remember, you are fortunate to have Hartmut Thiele's work on Schneider Kreuznach. I have his two volumes of Carl Zeiss Jena and within the last year snagged his volume on Zeiss Oberkochen. Still hoping to get his Schneider work.

The books are in hard copy, haven't been scanned and posted. Where are pirates when we need them?

It is a set of three books by Hartmut Thiele called Grosses Fabrikationsbuch Schneider-Kreuznach Band I, II and III. From what I can tell it was self published in Munich in 2006 and is written in German. Basically all of the available production records for Schneider Kreuznach (but not Schneider Gottingen) starting with lens 21 602 (March 1918) through to 12 862 325 (18 March 1976). The available information is production date, lens name, max aperture, focal length, number of lenses in batch, starting serial number, ending serial number, commissioning company, camera model, other comments.
