The vario-c-claron I just picked up has a maximum aperture of f/5.6 and a minimum of f/11, but the aperture ring doesn't turn any wider than about f/7 or narrower than about f/10. This does not change with any adjustment of the focal length. Does anyone here with any experience with this lens know what's going on? Thanks.

Had a similar problem with a similar lens years ago. S K Grimes was easily able to have the aperture go from wide open to a very small aperture. But then a few years ago had a Nikkor=Q lens with a similar problem, but was told having the aperture being able to travel from wide open to very closed would have been a very, very expensive project to undertake and cost would be based on an hourly rate with no estimate on the final cost.

I had hoped it wasn't anything like that. Oh well. Thanks for the help.

I have one of these new-in-box (For sale if anyone wants it!), I believe there are some limit screws in the aperture ring, that can be removed to reach full aperture options, from the last time I looked at it.
