Hey guys, this is my new wooden filmholder, made by my friend. He is very familiar with woodwork. He has been shooting films for many years. This is his trial product I got. It feels very good. What do you think?

Looks very pretty and the would fit very well with my wooden camera. Will they be available in other sizes too?

Did you shoot film with it already? And how do they feel when handling them when actual shooting? And how are the results?

They are pretty. As Huub said, we would know more. Chamonix View Camera makes Wood film holders, so it's not only for wooden cameras.

The idea is fine for bigger formats where the competition it's scarce. They are new, without the light leaks developed over time on old filmholders, and can be made to last. So I think your friend work has a lot of potential.

Because of the outbreak, I haven't had a chance to go out and shoot. Sorry. But my friend did a lot.

My friend and his team have done countless tests to ensure the quality of the product.

3S-KR: Please tell us who your friend is.

My friend is an engineer in the carpentry industry and a large format photographer. His photos were well taken, but they hung in his office and were not made public.

Since my friend did not register here, I was entrusted to help release The product information of The 9th. Studio.

welcome to China, I'd be happy to introduce him to you.

So it appears there is no "New Product" since there is no purchase information. This post should be titled "Seeking Investors".

Maybe should be moved to DIY section.

To make these wooden film holders, you still need to find investors? The 9th. Studio has made a large number of film holders, and there are many specifications.

I deliberately do not discuss purchase information here. If you are interested, you can E-mail me.

If you notice the moderators moved your thread to the new products section. You should be fine posting sales information here.

My registered name is pierre506 because pierre was occupied when regstering. So I added my house address number 506. It's more easy to remember and type for myself.
It doesn't mean pierre001 -505 are fake or failed. I will still be there if someone else registers pierre507 to ∞.

Let's back to the topic.
I just asked the manufacturer.
About "9th Studio", he thought he couldn't be the 1 or top, and won't use 8( 8 in Chinese means fortune and money). He hates such feeling.
9 in Chines means longer, larger, permanent, infinite, etc.
That's why he named his workshop. however, I told him there're too many 9th studio all of the world. He may give the English name up, 9th Studio, but keeps 九工场 as its Chinese name.
About "F64”,
1. His products postions on LF cameras and gears. It must have all kinds of relationships with F64.
2. He thought he wanted to register it as a brand more easily.
He won't make any offense.

hmmm, new 5x7 or 7x17 holders might interest me, depending on price.

Those look very well done and there is no doubt that producing all those small, exacting parts in wood is no small feat. The 9th Studio name is nice considering the symbolism, but the f64 naming/branding is a probably not the best choice considering its association with famous group and the, already existing, photo gear brand. Again, very nice film holders!

I met the manufacturer yesterday.
He wants to make all sizes of film holders.

Anybody used these holders? They are pricey, but they would be being made of wood instead of being stamped out or printed. They look nicely made and user friendly. The light traps appear to be put together with screws so that down the road they don’t have to go into the landfill but can be serviced.

It looks like they are selling Chamonix style holders at a lower price, even the 5x8 size which I am interested in. The Chamonix is 200 shipped, the F64 is 170.

I wish your friend the best! Good fimholders are one of the weak points of LF photography.
Now, how about some 12x20?
