After comparing the Toyo and the Nagaoka, it only seemed reasonable to do an article comparing the Toyo to its grandfather, the Super Graphic.

Toyo bought the rights and perhaps tooling and inventory from Graflex, after which they made the Toyo Super Graphic.
The Toyo half plate "Original Field" camera used Graphic lens boards.

I believe they bought them from the bankruptcy trustee after they went bust.

Now that you mention it, I remember reading that somewhere. So it really is the "grandson" of the Super Graphic.

Does TOYO still produce LF cameras?

Yes, Toyo is still in the business of making cameras, film holders and accessories. They also make machine tools - which is actually the larger division of the company.

Interesting info. It is always great when companies evolve and sometimes keep an active link with their past. I searched to find the company but I found more than one Toyo company. One making tires, one making packaging machines, one into gas and oil plants engineering.... Which one is the parent company?

Sakai Machine Tool, Inc, http://www.toyoview.co.jp/ (site in Japanese). The early Toyo Field is marked "Sakai Special." If you search for "Toyo lathe" or "Sakai lathe" you can find some examples of their machine tools, for ex https://www.nielsmachines.com/en/toyo-sakai-ml-1-high-precision-miniature-lathe.html
