Searching for street photo's I didn't find a dedicated thread and thought I'd start one.

These date back many years and thought they's be fun to post.

Shooting color other than for work is rare for me but found some I liked. The one man band was in NYC 33 years ago with a Rollei 35/2.8 Sonnar and the others were in the West Indies thirty years ago with my F2 and Velvia.

A little more in character for me is B&W. The third image was from 1973 when streaking was popular. The last image was for a magazine story I did about thirty years ago on homeless women.

A few more.

The boys on bicycles were photographed in Petros Tn near the maximum security prison where James Earl Wray was housed at this time, 1973. If you don't know who Wray was he was the assassin of Martin Luther King. The other images were made in Knoxville TN in 1969.

The West Indies images are my favorite all 16 you posted, so far. I can't say exactly why, "there's just something about them."

I didn’t get down to Mardigras last week to celebrate Fat Tuesday but have been several times. Here are a couple of images from a few years ago.

I don’t recommend Fat Tuesday on Bourbon St if you’re easily shocked.

The love palace dates to the early 80's in Atlanta and the others are from the early 70's on skid row. The fellow taking a drink from a bottle offered me a drink of "squeeze". What he was drinking was the liquid, methyl alcohol, squeezed from sterno. It's strained through bread giving it a cloudy appearance and is often called "smoke" or "smoke on the water". It's extremely toxic and eventually will cause blindness and death. I refused his hospitality.

Hi Don

really good stuff that you've been posting recently, particularly the first and second in number 25 and btw what/which camera(s) did you use both for the above and also for those that are in 'the Signs post' please?

Thanks Andrew. I think #1 was with a Canon slr but don’t remember the lens. It would have been one of the old breach lock lenses in the mid 70’s. #2 was with a Leica M 2 50mm f1.2 Noctilux on Pan F )1973). I owned the lens for several years and never felt it was great for general use. It did it’s best from 1.2 to 4 and under high flare conditions. I sold it and bought another 50 Summicron v3 chich has almost as good flare control and much better resolution at normal apertures. #3 is with M2 and 35 Summilux (1960’s version) and the 4th is Rollei SL66 and 50 Distagon.

Most of the 35 shots I’ve posted were from M Leicas. I’ve used them for over fifty years and the 6x6 were mostly Rollei SL66’s and some Rollei TLR’s. Most 2x3 or 6x7 would have been Linhof Technikas. I’ve been pretty consistent in the equipment I’ve used over the decades. I have used Nikon SLR’s a great deal since 1970. I used Canon slrs for a short period in the mid 70’s. Also used Rollei 3003’s for a few years but they were too unreliable.

Oops! #25, I gave the data for #26. Sorry!!!

Photo 1 of 25 was with a Rolleiflex D with 80 2.8 Xenotar. #2 was with a Leica MP and Leica 902.8 Elmarit (not the tele elmarit). I really like the old non tele version of the 90 Elmarit. #3&4 were with an MP also but don’t remember which lens.

I’ve gone through a lot of Leica glass over fifty years and pretty much gone full circle. I really disliked the Aspheric lenses and went back to 1st generation M glass. My Kit consists of 3 M bodies now and 21 f3.4 Super Angulon, 35 v1 Summicron, 50 rigid Summicron, 75 Summilux (one of my most favorite lenses of all time ), 90 Elmarit and 90 f2 Summicron ( I think it’s from the mid 70’s). I also have a Planar f2 50 and 35 Biogon f2 that I look when I’m in a situation I want better flare control. I used a 35 Summilux I bought new in 69 but had issues with coma and flare. I lost part of my images of Richard Nixon due to the lenses inability to deal with point sources in backlighting. IMO there are much better lenses.

Time to post a couple more images. The elderly couple live in a nearby town and have this setup in their yard all the time. Both are in their 90's.

The second image was from near Greenville SC and dates to 1999.

The Mennonite women were shot in the late 70's or early 80's and lived in a small colony in the Cumberland Mountains.

The musician was from 1969.

These LF hip shots were all taken in the summer of 1993 downtown Chicago, with an ancient Gundlach Korona IIb 4x5 folder (the camera had no markings and I only recently found out what it was) with a 135mm Symmar and a Vivitar 283 flash on a bracket - not exactly an unobtrusive setup.

Thank you

It now is a boutique hotel, The Robey
(https://www.therobey.com/)

I have known this 6 corner intersection for 40 years, it has changed a lot over time

1890's Beer Baron mansions closeby, gangs took over, at night the whole area shutdown with no cars parked

The hotel has rooftop pool, 3 bars, on a clear day the view from on top has the best panoramic view of Chicago

My last 2 days ever in Chicago I stayed at the hotel 2017 to say goodbye

Never going back

This one remembers me my childhood! Very beautiful!
