Hi all,

I've owned a 12" Goerz Dagor lens mounted in an Ilex Acme #4 shutter for quite some time. In the past I've rarely needed this focal length but recently I've been working on a project that calls for it, so out of storage it comes...

Problem is that it seems my Linhof cable release that works flawlessly with all my Copal shutters doesn't seem to have a long enough throw (plunge?) to fire the shutter reliably. Sometimes it works, but seems to only like it if I hold the cable dead straight in order to maximise the throw. Even then it's hit and miss and obviously very frustrating in the field!

I'm wondering, am I going mad or is this an actual thing with these shutters? If I'm not mad, can anyone recommend a cable realise that'll do the trick? I'll have to order from B&H as I live in New Zealand and I order my film from there too, as they have proven themselves to be the most reliable. Open to suggestions though!

If I am mad, I guess I need to get the damn shutter serviced. Or maybe it's an excuse to buy another lens...

Thanks,

Tim
