I have a CZJ 135/4.5 in a Compur dial set 1a that never worked right: B and T are fine, but I only works at max speed. I tore it down last night and found that someone tried to fix it in the past and that it has quite a bit of rust in the speed geartrain (and everywhere else).

Anyone here ever taken the gearing apart or have pictures of the underside? I'm hesitant to just pull the gearing apart for fear of never getting it back together properly, especially since I can't find any real service information. I've managed to get the gearing to move a bit with judicious application of heat and a couple drops of lubrucant but as you should be able to see, they're rough.

The glass is beautiful and I'd like to be able to use the lens on occasion but it doesn't fit any any of my collection of old shutters. Any suggestions, short of sending it off because this shutter isn't worth it, would be great.

I can’t put my finger on it right now but recall downloading a manual from the internet.

With the rust in yours it needs a complete disassemble to even figure out if it’s salvageable!

I had it completely apart, everything moves freely. If I can clean up the gears I'll go ahead and clean the rust up and do it properly.

If the speed gears will move it's definitely salvageable.

Good luck. I hope any rust pitting will polish out. One of my favorite old lenses is in a dial Compur. Very reliable shutter!

When they're not stored in a shed for 40 years.

Got more of it apart with judicious application of heat and penetrant in an insulin syringe. Here's what's under there:

Let's hope evaporust takes care of the issue so I don't have to press out a pin and replace it so a gear will turn.
