I am looking to find some examples of Ilex Photoplastic. It looks an interesting lens but not much is known about it.

There used to some images, but a system collapse some years ago did a fine job of cleaning out the photo files.

One problem with the Ilex has been the replaceable rear lenses, normal, some softness and much softness! Like all sets of lenses, some items always seen to get misplaced. Softlenses which depend on aperture settng or lens movements are more robust during long ownership and changing owners!

There is a reasonable Ilex photoplastic description in cameraeccentric -Ilex (1922). The complete sets don’t appear to be cared for very well - perhaps they were considered more a (cheap?) novelty item rather than a prof. Portrait tool?
