Dear All,

I was reading about these two methods to make ferric oxalate, powder or liquid form:

http://www.jeffreydmathias.com/assets/fo_powder.pdf

http://www.platine-palladium.com/telechargements/short-treatise-on-iron-salts.pdf

Once one makes a 20% solution would these two processes give a ferric oxalate suitable for Kallitype?

Thanks for your input,
Gabriele

I know I’m not answering your question, but I suggest that you buy the oxalate from disactis. They have it in powder form and have detailed instructions to mix it. Be aware that the solutions for kallitype and pt/pd are slightly different.
If you are in Europe, they are very convenient. I buy all the chemicals I cannot get locally from them. They are not currently open, but they will be soon.

Best,
Pau

I'm not a chemist, but I know that the highly respected Sandy King wrote that ferric oxalate keeps a long time in powder form, but has a limited shelf life when in a solution.
This might help you with your choice.
