Hi all -

Hoping to get some background information on what I have here. My brother-in-law passed away and left this behind. Markings say Horseman optical bench modular system. The stand is about 7' tall. My in-laws are in Los Angeles - I'm in Virginia so I haven't had a chance to get a closer look. Looks to me like an LE 8x10 Monorail - but I don't know much about large format at all.

Any thoughts on where to get more info would be appreciated.

If you are getting this as a gift, I might just get a new bellows. That would be a worthwhile investment even though it will cost as much as the camera is worth. Sometimes small light leaks are not evident right a way. Should function just like the 4x5 cameras. In fact I think the front standard is the same as the 4x5.

I have had Horseman 8X10.

Your pictures are tough to see detail in rail to L bracket junction. Several variations. Yours looks like https://www.google.com/search?q=horseman+8X10&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS850US850&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=m7yyiqW2G4CWAM%253A%252CUn_An0V9HMDKXM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kSLPD6vZwVxagiXX4QmjVB_3iYfBg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjDxdaEheniAhUJHqwKHfhPBoEQ9QEwBHoECAYQDA#imgrc=m7yyiqW2G4CWAM:

The stand is very nice with a https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/866684-REG/Cambo_99121430_SCH_Geared_Tripod_Head.html Perhaps the stand is also Cambo

Horseman rail cameras are modular with many variations possible. The front looks standard LE

The rear can have 2 different backs, Toyo (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/63769-REG/Toyo_View_180_226_810GII_8x10_View_Camera.html) or Cambo (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/864418-REG/cambo_99020333_c_333_8_x_10.html)

The bellows did wear on these cameras. It may use Sinar/Horseman front frame and rear frame can be Cambo or Toyo. I prefer Cambo.

Thanks all. This was my brother in law's. I have no doubt the bellows will need to be replaced - it has been sitting in a non-climate controlled barn for many years. Unfortunately I am relying on non-photo-skilled relatives on the other coast for the poor cell phone pictures.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I'll have to see if there are any dealers in So Cal that might be interested in consigning it for them.

Thank you,

Dean
