I bought this SinarSix light meter as part of a Linhof Technikardan 45 set.

I put in new batteries in it and it came roaring to life, but I have no idea how to use it, despite repeated tries, and reading whatever literature I could find on it.

Can anyone explain to me how to use this, step-by-step, in simple terms?

I've included a picture of said device below.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Swing f stop dial out of way if you can; it will only confuse you. Open shutter and Position sensor on middle gray in your scene. Set aperture on lens, Read the ev value that shows when you press in the button , rotate the dial to align the indicator with that number, read the proposed shutter setting from the black indicator.

Butkus' web site has the instructions for the "Six" (the tab on light meters). Be cautious about relying solely on the probe. The instruction manual is long and detailed. I'm getting ready to send mine to Quality Light Metric, and have it converted for silver cell use, and replacement of the probe. I still like my Pentax Zone VI digital a bit better.

PS - The unit also requires PX-13 batteries; the silver cells may yield exposure errors. The Wein cells do seem to work all right for me for now.
