Hi All,
I have a 355 G Claron in barrel. I have been trying to figure out what shutter might directly fit this lens. I had a Copal 3 but the threaded area of the lens was smaller that the opening in the shutter. My 305 G Claron screwed nicely into
Copal 1, would like to find a shutter that the 355 would screw directly without machining.

Thanks, Steve

Most 355 G Clarons are a direct fit to a Copal 3 Not a 3S. I did say "most".

A 3S? is that a different type of Copal 3? Someone had told me that Nikon Copal 3 might be different. Thinking the one I had may have been Rodenstock.

There’s an entire thread on a Copal shutters. You may want to search for it.

My 355 G-Claron directly threaded into a Compur 3 (same size a Copal 3)...

A Compound III is another possibility - fractionally smaller than the 3s. The earliest brochure I could find for the G Clarons (1976) had the 355 listed as "in vorbereitung" (in preparation) and the 305 mounted in a Compur II/5 so it might be that early examples went into a Compund III before being reworked for a Copal 3.

{edit} What is the serial number? Might be able to work out the age from that which would give a clue as to the shutter.
