After two full weeks of fooling around with 8x10 and even 5x7 through my Kodak 2D Eastman and Century, I took a break and went to a historic park full of old tall trees with my Chamonix 45 F2. I cannot tell you how emotional I became at the feeling of perfection in my hands again, accuracy, precision and beauty, all in that little camera Chamonix 45 F2. Forget about the heavy load of the 8x10 film holders, the heavy tripod and tripod head, no, it is not necessary with this little gem. Well, in 24 hours I will be posting what I shot. It is good to be able to go back and forth between these two sizes.

Here are some shots from couple of months ago:

Thanks for the excellent pics. The Chamonix 45F2 is my "snapshot" cam for the same reasons. On a carbon fiber tripod I can shift the whole rig one-handed to another viewpoint without dismantling anything. With Chamonix filmholders and Nikkor lenses (150, 200, 300) it's any easy enjoyable day all around.--alfredian

I carry three lenses with this camera: Fujinon 125/5.6, Shneider Convertible 150/5.6-265/12, and Ektar 203/7.7. But lately, I only use the Fuji. It is so small and covers everything I need to. Indeed, it is so light, and so well made, that it is making me forget my Intrepid 4x5.

In the second image in post one I’m seeing what looks like uneven development in the sky. Or is something else going on?

Haven’t had my Chamonix out for awhile, should, as it’s a sweet little camera. Although after shooting with my 2D 8x10 as my primary view camera I have to be supper careful, the thing is so darn light, I'm afraid of knocking it over. :)

Good eye. One of the old 4x5 film holders was acting up and I could not pull the film out, finally, I did it, but I am sure I manage to hurt the emulsion by touching it. I also got three scratches on the glossy part of the film that touched the film holder.

Added: I put some Gaffer's tape over the existing tape and that made the two parts a little stiff. So, when I removed the dark slide to pull the film, that portion of the holder refused to stay opened and kept coming to the film. That is when the back of the film got scratched. I don't clean my scanned film, I only have LR4, and I don't want to spend too much time in the computer. I rather be shooting. I will eventually print in the dark room.
