Has anyone seen a lens like this before? It has no maker id on it. It says "Portrait Lens 1/4 Plate No. 248" The lens is a regular petzval lens slotted for waterhouse stops. On the flange it says "Made in Germany" which I think is original as the writing is similar to that on the lens. Does anyone have an idea of the maker? Thanks.

The only company in Europe/Germany who is known for flange engraving is Steinheil. Notorious in fact, as loss of the original flange makes many of his lenses totally "no name"! Engraving the barrel is sometime present on a few smaller english makers - but only after 1857, because of the Waterhouse cut-out. invention.
