Didn't see an April thread yet, so I went ahead and started it.
My wife had her baby shower last month and I set up the Deardorff and asked to take a photo of my wife and her aunt. Didn't have time to do different shots since they were in a hurry but I like the way the photos came out.

Those are nice portraits. There is something special about those two photos, it is the fact that there is a light bokeh next to the dark edges of the ladies dresses. Some how, it reminds me the effect of Rodinal in the stand development. However, I can see you used extol. It must be the lens. However, the shots and the composition are definitely credited to the photographer. The younger lady's smile is very important in the photo to show her mood. The smile in the second photo seems a bit less natural. Congratulations in the nice shots.

Thanks, Mark. I don’t promise prints, I just shoot and print what I feel is worth the time to print and give copies of any portraits that make it through that filter. In this case, the first kid is my daughter and the next two are daughters of friends. We were having our little monthly neighborhood dinner and I was interrupting the kids playing (my daughter was seriously annoyed).
I was just curious which one you fellows liked, but I don’t want to hijack the thread, so maybe don’t answer the question I posed. I find that process of elimination helpful in clarifying what it is I’m trying to make.

Happens to all of us. I just got into 8x10, and am thinking 16x20. BTW, is your photo scanned in reverse? I am reading the NO HIPPIES sign carried by Jesus inverted.

I also don't think it is weird at all. I find 8x10 far easier to work with. Not easier to carry, of course. I think 8x10 is my ideal large format for usability, though would give the edge to whole plate if you factor in bulk and weight.

I had to take a second look at the combination of Charles S's image of the woman with the tattoos and the woman in the patterned dress by Deardorfuser. Both are excellent, and to me they have a similar feel. They would fit well side-by-side as framed prints.
