It is part of a lot of Fuji Acros 100 being sold. 3 boxes of 4x5 and this? All expired several years ago, but boxes are still factory sealed so why not? I have 120 sheets of 4x5 unexpired. Could practice with this and if it still good, well that works.

Electron Microscope?

I guess you will be cutting film soon!

That was a half-cabinet size, nominally 82x119 half of the Japanese cabinet format:

From http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Japanese_formats “Other formats were less widespread. Nimaigake (二枚掛) is the half of kabine: 3¼×4¾″=8.3×12.1cm, easily rounded to 8×12cm.”

That was a plate size. Corresponding sheet film was slightly smaller to fit in the film sheath adapter. See near bottom of:

(Towards the bottom. Use google translate if you can’t read Japanese)

Actually, that Electron Microscope film is very high contrast, for recording low contrast *subjects* like biological specimens. Probably would need a special developer formula to obtain usable contrast for pictorial subjects - think Tech Pan.

Steven, what film is offered in that format as part of that lot - is it Acros, EM film, or something else?

Thanks. The label on the package says "kabine 1/2" (in the parentheses after the size in cm), as Jason explained.

Interesting that the size is old French Glass Lantern sizing. 3-1/4X4"

http://www.old-photo.com/pages/magic-lantern-slides.htm

And Kodak offers it also https://www.emsdiasum.com/microscopy/products/photographic/kodak.aspx

I just bought NOS glass lantern holder that size from Blue Moon, they have had it for sale for some time.
