TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE ENLARGING DIGITAL HEADS THAT I CAN ADAPT TO MY ENLARGER THAT IS A CHROMEGA DICHROIC D-5. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PROYECT THE DIGITAL IMAGE TO PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER AND RUN IT THRU MY EXISTING COLOR PAPER PROCESS MACHINE.

This past spring, I got a preview of a digital projection head that has been developed by Jensen Optical in Oregon. The results are awesome to say the least. However there is a limitation of resolution as it is dependent on pixels. I don't recall how far it will go, I think it was past 20 x 24 without seeing pixels on the final print. For larger sizes, laser exposure is still the way to go.

The huge advantage of this projection system is speed - speed - speed! It only takes a short exposure than off into the soup.

And yes the price will be at least 5 figures. Contact Jen at Jensen Optical.

I spoke to Odyssey a year or so ago about this enlarger. What is conspicuous by its absence from any promotional literature or threads on the machine is the size of the pixel array in the projection LCD. I forget what the actual figures were but as far as I remember from my discussion, you would only get 300ppi at 12x16 enlargement size. That may or may not be enough to give similar quality as a neg. At 20x16 you would be pushing your luck.
However, when the next generation of lcd with higher res comes out, then it seems like a good idea. I recall that Odyssey said they would send out actual sample prints if requested.
