Hi.

Anyone use this lens for 8x10? I have an opportunity to buy one...less than 100 b ucks, no shutter. How does it perform? Enough coverage for 8x10? How the heck do you use a lens w/out shutter? Difficult to time exposures, no?

Which Kodak 7.5 Anastigmat? Is 7.5 the focal length in inches, or the aperture?

I use barrel lenses occasionally, with a hat as a shutter. Use slow film and small aperture, and remember reciprocity too. Exposures of 1/2 to 4 seconds are dead easy. :-)

Thanks for the reply. 7.5 inches is the focal length.

The #33 7-1/2" Anastigmat has a 37 x 53 degree angle at infinity with 5x7 format. Normally these were mounted in Ilex 4 shutters. My guess is that the only way you could use this with 8 x 10 is doing very close up work. You could possibly front mount it, but again, the coverage will not permit use with 8 x 10 at anywhere near infinity.

Robert!
Good to hear from you. You probably don't remember me, but I met you in Ann Arbor a couple of years ago...
You suggested to me that scanning film would yield far superior results than using digital capture (6 mp d100 at the time). Man, were you on the money.
