Just in case anyone has a free few hours in Paris the next few weeks!

How many portraits Felix Nadar made at his establishment in the 1850's and 60's is unknown, but the examples shown at the BBC review show a lot of time and experimentation used in posing. You forget the technical difficulties that were involved.

Nadar was arguably the first great portrait photographer; wish I were in Paris with those few free hours!

You can argue for Hill & Adamson, or Southworth & Hawes, but I don't want to do that. Nadar is one of the all-time greats, to be sure. I, too, wish that I could see this show!
Last year I had a chance to buy a copy of his memoir "When I was a Photographer" but passed. I need to put that book at the top of my list.
