Part of a series of images taken at local industrial sites, quite a contrast to my usual landscape work. Being close at hand I use them as a test lab. At the moment the negs are being used as sacrificial offerings for carbon transfer. 'Scuse the quality of this, I haven't had a need to throw it on the drum scanner so a poxy digital camera shot it is.

In rummaging through the archives, I ran across this from a historic woolen mill complex in western Maine that I photographed a number of years ago, with mill buildings of various ages on the right and the 1920s office building on the right.

This is the former Wildroot Hair Tonic factory in Buffalo, NY. I took a series of photographs of it in the spring of 2016 as part of a volunteer effort on behalf of the Preservation League of New York State, which identified this fantastic building as one of the Seven to Save endangered buildings. My goal in the pictures that I take for the Preservation League is to show both the beauty and/or significance of the site and the threats that it faces. I have run across few scenes which more clearly showed both components at the same time, with the Bailey Avenue overpass having been built juste a couple of feet from the front of the building which has a fantastic Mid-Century Modern facade.

Looking at the cars I must have shot this in the early to mid 80's. The shot was near Birmingham Alabama after the steel industry had shut down.

It was one of those totally overcast days so I increased development for additional contrast but went to far. Its a very contrasty neg and a bear to scan or print.

Its the Ottesen Grain Company Feed Mill, in the town of Fort Lupton, Colorado. It has been designated as a historical building. It is currently a site for a nice Mexican restaurant. :)
