Does anyone know how to remove the center post on an older bogen/manfrotto 3036 or similar tripod?

Thanks Tim the video shows everything but removing the bottom end piece

Well it is so simple it's stupid, remove the bottom nut push the bolt through then go in with a screwdriver find the collar of the wedge and give it a tap. This will free the bottom unit and it can be removed.
