Before you ask or suggest did I do a search. Yes. I have a Rittreck view on it's way from Japan. How can you tell the manufacture date. I know they were made between 1965 till 1972. Are there differences from year to year. The one I bought has the black thumb tabs for the lens lock. I know others are a metal slde .

So 94 people have read this and not one person knows how to tell year it's was made or what variations/ improvments were made over time.

Kumar is very knowledgeable of the Rittreckview cameras. Perhaps he can help.

I have one and only learned today from you dating.

Kinda obvious now.

I think many only hope to know the decade of manufacture.

And I collect metal cameras!

I know they were made between 1965 till 1972.

You already are ahead of radio-carbon dating.

Well camera has arrived. Very cool. I wasn't sure I would like the gray and blue color scheme but it looks good. So now for the year of manufactureing I am guessing the first two numbers in the serial number is the manufactured year.If that is the case then mine Isa 1972. I saw a pic of another one and it's first two were 65. It had the plane metal lens board lock release. Any thoughts. I am going to enjoy using this old classic.

Saw the manufactoring years on cameripedia I think. Maybe they went alittle into 1973 ?. Any thing about yours that's different or an "improvement"

Just marking arrows.

They do help.

But I first read them backward, so not so much!
