Apparently there are tongues of heat well beyond the caldera. This morning I pointed out to a friend the strange-colored hot sulphur spring way up near Tuolumne Mdws where deer come to lick the minerals, then of course there is one right in the middle of the Mdw, plus Hot Creek down by the Mammoth Airport.
