I just got a Korona View 8x10 and I’m away from home for the weekend (Camera is at home). Does anyone have one and know the lens board dimensions? I know the one I purchased has a shutter that doesn’t work so I was envisioning I would just need to remove it altogether and use my lenses with shutters. Just wasn’t sure about the dimensions.

I think they are 6x6 with square corners?

That sounds pretty accurate. Thanks, Terry!

Kleiny,

Korona 8X10 will use the same lens board as a Kodak 8X10 2D. And yes, they are 6X6 inches.

Do you know anything about removing or repairing the lens board that has its own shutter? The camera came with one board with a broken shutter that I can’t necessarily get to stay open.

Good pictures of the problem may help. Use your phone.

Packard shutter and very nice to have actually.

I have one just like it on my 5X7 Korona. I use it with lenses that have failed shutters.

Still made and sold. https://packardshutter.com/

So worth it to get it repaired? That is kind of what I was thinking.

BTW, I use 6x6 RC (rounded corner) Deardorff boards with my Korona 8x20 without any problems

It depends, it's easy to remove and even take apart.

Looks like yours is held on by the 2 top outermost screws and usually, we use the bottom outermost screws also.

Once it's off the board the 4 middle screws take it apart.

Repair, unless it only needs cleaning, can be more than another used one.

Some still buy new ones.

Call Reno at the Packard #, it's his cell phone. Very friendly.

Reno retired and sold his business, don’t know if the new owner services old shutters, but would be worth inquiring if you don’t want to mess with it. Yes Reno was excellent, sent him a basket case shutter and it came back in good working order complete with a new paint job.
