Hi Scott,

if you go for absolutely minimum dimensions (as opposed to quickest setup, see below) things get a bit complicated by three things: (1) if you plan to use the groundglass protector (I do), (2) if you plan to buy the 069000 front format frame extender (I did), and (3) if your front frame has the Orbix (mine does). I am also assuming no function carrier and no rail included in the measurements, i.e., just the bare frames and bellows.

With (1) and (2) and (3) in place my 8x10 (a 4x5 with 8x10 format kit added to it) measures 12 3/4 x 13 x 4 5/8. With none of the above I think you can safely assume 12 1/4 x 13 x 4 1/4

If you instead include the functions carriers and of course the shortest rail the measurements become 12 3/4 x 16 x 6. This is actually the quickest setup, i.e., the typical one of those who carry around a 4x5 A-S. I would go for a case that accommodate these last measurements.

I am also interested in finding an affordable case. Let me know if you find one, I have been unable so far. Bottom line: the case you suggest won't cut it.

Cheers

marco,

thanks for taking those measuremnets for me... the thickness of the unit really comes as a surprise at nearly 5". i'll keep looking around and will shoot you an email if i come across anything promising.

Scott,

you are right. I actually removed the frames from the function carriers and measured the depth again. My camera setup is 3 5/8 deep. Without Orbix and Groundglass you can shave 1/4 for sure, maybe not as far as going down to 3 inches though.

marco... thanks for the update! i'll look around for something with an interior depth of 3-1/2 - 4" and let you know what i find!
