This weekend I took apart the Wista to clean a couple of nooks and corners. I noticed that those dovetail guides of the bed and the movements and the gars for bed and rise/fall were bone dry. A bit, really not much, caked grease or dirt at most.

Now should I grease these sliding parts or not? My engeneering feelimg says yes, but I don't see any suitable grease around me. On the othe hand, those parts do not move much, at low speed and low load. So probably ok dry. And grease attracts and holds dust.

What do you guys do and use?

Just never use graphite in any form. Dry is okay with me.

A little carnauba wax shouldnt hurt anything, put it on and polish it so dust wont stick.
