Hello all. I'm happy to announce that there will be a show of my pictures at the LightBox Photographic Gallery in beautiful Astoria, Oregon, beginning March 10th. The show will feature 60 prints, selected from over 15 years of work, all printed, in collaboration with forum member Paul Cunningham, in lovely platinum. The pictures are all from film, representing a wide variety of formats, from 35mm up to 5"x7," and are printed as large as 16"x20."

Though I am honored to have the opportunity to have a big show in as nice a space as the LightBox Gallery, I do not think it is an endeavor I will attempt again. Ever. :-)

So don't miss out! Seriously, I hope to see you there.

Below is a link to the gallery with more information. I will be giving a talk at LightBox on the 10th from 4-5pm, just before the opening.

Best Regards,

Austin

Kudos on the Lightbox show! Its a nice space in a great town. I was lucky to have two pieces in a group show there two years ago. I’ll try to make it to see your show.

Thanks Mark, Paul, David, Pali, Ken, Rorye, I appreciate that.

John and Jim, thank you! I'm honored you're making the trip.

Joe and Dick, thank you. There aren't any plans to take the show on the road, but you never know. The idea is much more palatable now that everything is framed. Well, almost everything-as of this morning, I have seven prints to go. Finally, there's light at the end of the tunnel!

Doremus, thanks. I'm afraid the show will be gone by the time you get back. It runs from March 10th through April 10th. Have a great trip!

I wish I could be there to see the show. I'm a big fan. If you take that show to the road (and you should), consider a few places in Europe.

21-Feb-2018, 11:49
Thank you Michael, that's very kind. As for Europe, right now I'm taking it one step at a time, and the thing weighing most heavily on my mind right now is just what I'm going to say at this talk I'm supposed to give. I wake up in the middle of the night in terror. :-)

I'd like to join in congratulating Austin on this milestone show. Admittedly I am collaborating on this project and perhaps a bit biased, but it is precisely because I have such respect for Austin's work.

I cannot wait to see these prints filling the LightBox gallery!

And by the way, for those on Facebook you can find and follow the event here (https://www.facebook.com/events/2008543746089664/).

Wish I could be there. Astoria is a lovely town. I spent some of my summers a bit down the coast in old growth forest near the Tilammok cheese factory, which my grandpa built much of. Wet all the time, but not that oppressive overcast like Portland gets, where my wife is right now enjoying the snow. I'm babysitting the cats. I always enjoy posts of your MF work in particular.

Wish I could make the show. Austin, I've always admired your photographs posted here. They're always easily identifiable by superlative composition, that makes overlooked objects stand out artistically. Great to see you get the public exposure.

Austin's show was a big success - packed house, great artist's talk, and 60 wonderful prints to see on the walls. The show will be up until April 10 so find an excuse to take a road trip. Bring your camera as Astoria is interesting and the fabled Oregon coast is nearby.

Thanks to Austin from me and my wife. We found the evening to be most enjoyable.

It is a beautiful show. The images and the prints are something to see. Congratulations on an amazing show. I encourage everyone to checkout Lightbox Gallery in Astoria. Go online and see the images from the show. This gallery shows photography only! Look at the past shows as well and see the quality of work on display. Enter work in the appropriate calls that happen once a month. When you see Austin's work you will not be disappointed.

Austin's photographs and Paul Cunningham's printing have made for a truly wonderful show. I also have to mention Michael Granger's Lightbox Gallery, which is an exhibition space that truly compliments the images. Don't miss this show if you're in the area.

Hello all. Here's one last plug for the show, which ends April 10th. While I can't promise to be there to personally greet you (see below), I can tell you that if you come by, I'll be there in spirit, in the pictures up on the walls.

Here's a large format selfie, made with the assistance of a passerby named Clinton Doughty. Clinton was a young Coastguardsman from Louisiana who obliged a request to trip my shutter release. Thanks Clinton!

Sorry I won't be able to make the show - I'm in Europe till mid-June.

Nevertheless, congratulations again and best wishes for continued success for the rest of the show. The gallery looks very nice. I'll have to drop by this summer when I'm back in Oregon.

Looks like Austin needs to take his show on the road. If you could start in NH, that would be nice:)
