I am contemplating buying a used Creo / Scitex Eversmart Pro scanner. This machine uses Scitex's older scanning software that runs on Mac OS 9 or earlier.

Does anyone know whether this particular software is good with color negatives? That's what I am going to be scanning.

Note: The machine is not the Eversmart Pro II. That machine comes with different software.

Thanks

I do not scan negatives but I have this scanner, it is a very good scanner once calibrated.

Neil, have you by chance found a way to run the scanner from Classic or OS-X with the older software?

yes it does a good job... but i have some troubles with mine !
and it is more than slow !
6x7 at 2000dpi... more than 20 mins !
Mac OS 9.2 max
Not compatible with Oxygen scan software
Lamps cost 200 euros
it takes a lot of space and weight 70 Kg

i'm looking for the last software version available... smartscan 3.0
mine ( 1.1 and 2.5) have a bug, and need service (optic adjustment)... so i have to find the good person to do it... not that easy and it will cost money ! the glass itself cost 600 euros excluding VAT !

Great piece of gear. I have the eversmart pro which I believe is 3240 dpi using 3.0 software. Absolutely first rate. I just purchased mine and couldnt be happier. I scan 8 4x5's at a time at 3240 dpi. Turn on the machine and come back an hour or so later and they are all done.
