Does any of you have any experience with the GITZO G1372 tripod head with a lightweight (4,3kg/9,5lb) 8x10" camera?

Thanks

I use a Gitzo 1570M head for my 8x10 and Gitzo Gh3750qr on my series 3 Gitzo sticks for 4x5 work.

I have a 1372M and wouldn't use it with an 8x10. You might be able to get away with it but I think it would be awkward. The handles on the 1372M are pretty short and a 10 pound camera sitting on top of a medium weight head with short handles would be difficult to use and probably not very stable. The 1372 on 3 series carbon fiber legs works fine with a Deardorff 5x7 or Ebony 4x5. With my 8x10 Deardorff I use a 1570M on a 5 series carbon fiber set of legs.

Thanks Don! I will look for that head then.

the gitzo 1372 head is tall and has a quick release. both are bad for maneuvering a heavy camera. avoid the quick release as it just adds another point of vibration. The 1570m head is great, but overkill in my opinion. I use a gitzo 1370m low profile head for 8x10 and a gitzo 2270m head for everything else. I've set a cambo 8x10 monorail and a deardorff 8x10 on the 1370m head without issue. as with any head, don't loosen it until you have a hold on the camera.
