Hi everyone, I am new to here, nice to meet you all :)

I recently inherited a Linhof camera from my uncle and I believe it's a Linhof Super Technika III (?)
173794
it comes with the 6x9 film back and I've already got another 6x9 camera.
So I am now looking for the 4x5 parts for my camera.
I saw a shop from eBay selling a 4x5 Rotating Back Adapter.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Linhof-Technika-4x5-Rotating-Back-Adapter-Condition-6E-6375/332521606291?hash=item4d6bd50c93:g:jyUAAOSwehlZ4Hdn
But I am not sure does it fit my camera and can it hold a 4x5 film holder and the focusing ground glass ?
Please help everyone, have a good day.

Cheers,
Michael

Linhof 69 cameras can not be converted to shoot 45 and Linhof never made any accessories to do a 45 conversion. On the other hand it is very easy to convert a 45 or 57 Linhof to shoot smaller formats.

If you want to know exactly what you have and when it was made post the camera’s serial number.

Thanks a lot mate.
May I know how to check the serial number so that I can check it after work today. Thanks

It should be stamped on the accessory shoe.

Bob,
Your post brought back an old memory... In the 1990s we had a MP-4 copy stand fitted with a Linhof (Expert Technika 70 I think, but not sure) that was adapted to shoot 4x5 film. The 4x5 adapter looked a lot like the one pictured in figure 4 (taken from a Linhof catalogue, no date but 8 1/2 x 11 with color cover and "6603 / 52 e" printed on the rear cover), but honestly never paid much attention to it.

You comment on this very welcome.

Not very useful on a copy stand with a 90mm SA lens. In the almost 40 years that I was with Linhof this thing was never mentioned. Seems to be the same vintage as the Techniflex TLR adaptation for a 45 Technika!

Horseman copied Linhof in this and many things Linhof.

I have a Horseman version. A useless oddity. Makes a heavy small camera even heavier.

But if it's in a camera catalog, I try to find it IRL. (in real life) :)

Sorry folks, I have been really busy lately .
Here are the photos of my camera.

Any idea of which model is this camera and does it fit the 4x5 parts.
Also, I find this camera is quite hard to do focusing and composition. Is there any parts that can help? (similar to ground glass)

Cheers,
Michael

You have a Technika IV made in 1946. The factory no longer has parts or accessories for these cameras. For problems contact Linhof service. In the USA that is Preecision in Skokie, IL.

Thanks a lot mate. So according to the Technika IV manual, my camera can shoot 4x5 film with certain parts, is that correct ?
I have seen some parts on eBay but I am not sure if they suit my camera and do I need any other parts to hold the 4x5 film holder.

That camera disappeared from the market more then 30 years before I got involved with Linhof. Anything may be possible but we never saw or handled a 23 to 45 conversion.

If it's of any interest to the OP, I'm currently building a 6x9 to 4x5 converter so I can use my 6x12 back on a Linhof Technika 70. I don't always want to lug the 4x5 around when shooting with my Technika 70, which is great as a handheld camera, among many other things. Obviously it's not the most streamlined way of shooting 6x12 (or 4x5 - same Graflok mount needed) but it gives me an option for panoramas without having to bring a whole other camera along.

At it's simplest, a Linhof 6x9 rotatable back can be salvaged, a cone added to the back of it, and a 4x5 Graflok back added to that. Heck, you could probably buy one of those Horseman converter backs and mate it to a salvaged Linhof rotatable back.
