View Full Version : Focusing knob turning a bit tight on Deardorff V8 - suggestions?

On my late model V8, the rear focusing is a bit tight for my taste. I would wish it be a tad easier to turn the knob. (no, I am not inadvertently locking it) It's not a huge issue, more a personal preference.

All of the other knob adjustments (front and rear bed extension) turn with little effort, without resistance.

I lubed the gear rails (slots, and a tad on the teeth as well) with white lithium grease and it helped a bit, but not as much as I would like. I also used some beeswax on the wood-to-wood parts. I was hoping for a suggestion of something else that I might do to make the focusing action more effortless.

Thx

The amazing Ken Hough called me on his own dime to walk me through the process of fixing this. Thank you Ken, and Happy Holidays!!!
