Will 8x10 Deardorff boards fit on the Kodak 2D 8x10? Thanks in advance

Here is a thread which has the dimensions of a Kodak 2D lensboard-http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=005z31

Actually it may if you have one of the first 8x10 Deardorffs or one that was made for the military in WWII. The 2D board was "standard" and it was made a requirement so the military would not have to remount lenses and also the reason behind that size for the initial batch (no one had Deardorff boards...) Beyond those two exception, no.

hello Ben,

I had a 2D, and bought a lens board with rounded corners, which I assumed was for a Deardorff, though I do not really know. Anyway, it worked with my 2d, and works with my Ansco.
Not really much help.

According to the Deardorff Historical Website, the first ten v-8s had 5-1/2"x6" lensboards (in order to sell thier own lensboards) but then changed to the standard 6" square Eastman board for the convenience of thier customers.

I don't know off hand when Deardorff went from the square corner boards to the rounded corners, or if a quare cornered board can be "radiused" to fit a round corner front standard.

Interesting question!

Deardorff switched from the square corners to the rounded corners in 1939 I believe.

"made for the military in WWII". Advertising slogan: "Deardorff- the 8x10 camera that won World War Two".
