I've recently bought a De Vere 504. I've just purchased the Nikkor EL 150mm f5.6 enlarger lens to print 4x5 negs. For the 504, I have a 39mm threaded lens circular mount fitting, and what looks to be a 49mm one, too.

I know the Nikkor 150mm lens is a 53mm diameter thread. So, my question is:

How do I get the Nikkor enlarger lens onto the 504? Will I need a different lens mount altogether, or, is there an adapter ring of some sort for the 49mm mount I have already?

Since DeVere boards came threaded for leica (39mm) threads, you can either have the correct threads cut onto a blank DeVere board, or use a board with an oversize hole with a lock nut. The board page from the DV catalog is shown below.

There was one of the raised boards shown below at auction pretty reasonably priced incl shipping, with a 41 mm hole cut on it. You could do either of the above with this board. The board in the photo below has a 240 Apo-Rod mounted on it. I prefer these raised inverted boards over the flat panel board shown on right, but either will work with your lens. Had you bought a 135 Rodagon, it would screw directly on your board with the Leica threads. If interested in the raised board, PM me and I'll give you the URL for it.

Ah, great. Thanks for the info and the catalog pic. I've got a 49mm board, but will buy a 53mm board I know is available, without a thread. I can get a retaining ring made to 53mm for the other side, to hold the lens in tight.

Or you could enlarge the hole in your 49 board........

I guess so. I'm guessing it'll be easier than making a retaining ring to size.

My 150 Nikkor has a 39mm thread. Are you sure there's not an adapter already on the lens? Mine is an El_Nikkor 150mm, serial number 600102. It's possible, of course, that you have a different vintage lens, or that Nikon made versions with different thread sizes.

The 39mm adapter was not present. So, it'll have to be 53mm.

The adapter to 39mm thread was once available as a separate part from Nikon; it might still be available new.

The older 150 had a 53 mm thread and the mounting flange is available from Nikon - if you get hold of the right tech.

I've had a good look around, but to no avail. I'll keep looking but I may be able to get a retaining ring made to fit it into a 53mm threadless panel.

You won't find it by looking. You'll have to call Nikon Parts and ask for the 53mm flange (not retaining ring) for the old 150 EL. This is where you have to connect with the right tech. Good luck.

Ah, great. Okay, will give it a go, thanks! :)
