View Full Version : Toyo 45A Rotating Back: SOLVED
I'm aware that the 45AII has a revolving back while the 45A has a rotating back. However, I'm unable to figure out how to change the orientation of the 45A from landscape to portrait using the rotating back. Suggestions?

There are two sliding locks at the top and bottom. Slide them, and you should be able to remove the back.

I've tried that however after rotating the back there is no where for the sliding locks to hold.

The Toyo backs have recesses where the sliding locks fit. Can you post photos of the camera with the back removed, and the back itself?
Just figured it out! I have a revolving back version of the 45A!

I think you have a revolving back - depressing the small lever on the right in your second photo should let you revolve the back.

Thanks for the help, Kumar.
I believe the revolving back was an option on the 45A? I know my 45A has the revolving back on it as well (or maybe someone fitted it later - I don't know! Maybe it might be wise to ignore me ;-) )

Indeed. With the revolving back, the camera was called the 45 AR. Also, the AX is the same as the AII, except that it has a reversible back like the A.
