Chamonix 4x10 Camera Question

I am considering buying a Chamonix 4x10 camera in the very near future and am not sure which model to get. The 410W has metal arms supporting the rear standard, while the 410W does not, while the weight of the 2 designs is almost the same. I am leaning towards the "W" assuming it will be more rigid—am I correct? Anyone have any experience with these cameras?

I don't see other than the extra $300 why you would go with the N version which has quite limited rise and fall. Just be careful when folding up - I have found at least with my 14x17 (but not my 4x5) that you can sheer off a small screw on the side if you haven't completely unlocked. Otherwise, I would say that 4x10 is a bit of an orphan format and resale might be hard and film holders only available at a high price from Chamonix. I'd consider MF 617 (e.g. Shenhao PTB 617), 7x17 (old camera from ebay with holders), and 8x10 (cropped) before going with 4x10 but no doubt you have wieghed the pros and cons.

Also the Walnut is nicer than the Teak IMHO.

410W is older model is no longer made. 410N-2 is our current model and we have one in stock as we speak.

When I was getting mine, Hugo had mentioned that they dropped the arms, feeling they weren't really necessary. I'd agree. Mine feels plenty rigid without.

Not as well known as the others but years ago when Korona was making the banquet cameras, 7X17 and 8X20, they also made a 5X12, which I love. If you can snag a long roll of the aerial recon 5 inch film you just chop at 12" and load. Rarely seen for sale though. I was surprised at all the 4X10 stuff on Ebay.
