Hi, I've recently been using several film cameras that have been collecting dust in my basement, including a 4x5 Crown Graphic and a 4x5 Burke and James. I'm thinking it would be fun to try something a bit larger like an 8x10 and am looking for a good starter camera for that purpose (such as an 8x10 field camera). Ed

Most 8x10 field cameras are pretty expensive. For an inexpensive starter camera you might look at old wooden tail board cameras like the Burke and James or you might spend a little more and find a working Deardorff that's a bit on the ugly side.

Welcome to the forum, Ed!

Alan, Thanks for the welcome. I have a Burke and James 4x5. Something like that in an 8x10 would be a great place to start. Please let me know if you have any leads!

Burke and James 8x10's show up on Ebay from time to time. I've even seen some stripped of the battleship grey paint, sanded and varnished. They can look really nice! You can also place a "looking for add" here on the forum in the for sale section after you have been a member for 30 days. You might also try KEH.
