I've got a 210mm Apo Symmar that didn't come with front or rear caps.

Just wondering if anyone knows, or has preferences on where to get some generic ones?

Also, I'm trying to figure out what sizes I would need for each. If anyone has this lens and knows, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I've bought Nikon pinch caps off Ebay from China. They are cheap and work great. My 1940's 14" Kodak Commercial Ektar sports one. So do some of my other large format lenses.

Thanks, Alan! Will look into those.

Search for "lens caps" at the big auction site. Every now and then someone puts up a collection of lens caps for little money. I once picked up dozens for less than the USPS PRIORITY postage costs.

"Nikon pinch caps off Ebay from China. They are cheap and work great." agree 100%. About the only OEM rip-off items I'd spend money one.

Thanks so much, everyone. This forum is great.

Now to figure out what sizes I need. It seems that should be easy with this whole google thing, but I'm having some trouble.

Just measure front and rear with a ruler. Some literature I have says the APO-Symmar takes 72mm filters and a 75mm push-on front cap, but it doesn't say anything about the rear. It's almost certainly an even mm measurement.

B&H has Kaiser slip on caps in many, many sizes. I like the Chinese "Nikon" snap caps from Ebay for front caps though.

KEH for authentic caps, if they matter. Every camera show I've ever been to has at least one seller with a giant box of caps.

The Kaiser caps are very nice. They are stiffer than the Rodenstock and Schneider caps, at least the examples and sizes that I have. Over the years, I was able to pick up some Nikon and Fujinon slip on caps (I think from KEH and/or B&H), which are much nicer than the Rodenstock and Schneider caps I have.

If you check the main page of this site you can get a lot of information about the lens you have. The chart shows the filter size for the front element. You can get screw in lens caps from many photo stores.

Here's one source for odd sizes; I'm sure there are others. I have bought any from this seller, though I may. I thought, when I first saved his listing, that he had larger sizes too. Maybe they're gone or my memory is gone.
