On my Sinar C 8x10 purchased in 1979; I have a Special Standard Bearer at the rear (433.22) with the additional locking knob for vertical tilt.
I am looking to change out my front standard; My question is how do you know the front standard is a SPECIAL 8 x 10 or NORMAL 4x5 only. What are the key differences one can see to know a special from a standard?
Part numbers for a front main standard I have is 431.211 sinar p; I cannot find a number for a sinar p special.
Part number for a Special Front Standard is 431.52 in a sinar p2 catalog
I am wanting to keep my sinar p with a brushed alum. look and not have a black standard.

On the real 8x10 F2, the "special" front standard has steel risers that are larger diameter and shorter than the aluminum risers on the 4x5. A magnet is your friend.

They obviously wanted significantly greater strength and rigidity for the 8x10 compared to the 4x5.
