View Full Version : GSD-10 glycin film developer
I mixed up some Ansco 130 developer (split version) today and have some glycin left over so I thought I should try Jay Defehr's GSD-10 developer. But I really could use some advice.
This is my set up:
Jobo CPA-2
Expert Drum 3005 (takes 5 sheets)
8x10 format Fomapan 100 @ ISO 100
I need some input to address these worries:
Presoak or not
Dilution
Approx time (I'll calibrate but need a starting point
How to avoid banding (have had some problems with Diafine in this respect)
How many sheets can be developed with 800 ml of diluted GSD-10
The negs will be contact printed (silver gelatine) or scanned for large ink jet printing.
Very grateful for any advice.
Kind regards,
Sverre Aurstad

Hello Sverre,
I use GSD-10 from time to time and have used it with Fomapan 100, although I get better results using Acros, TMX and TMY-2. Without speaking for Jay, I believe he formulated it for reduced agitation (stand and semi-stand) development which is how I use it.
My times range between 20 minutes and 1 hour usually with a dilution of 1:30 (based on the updated formula). Presoak about 3 minutes, 1 minute initial agitation and 10 sec at 1/3 and 2/3 total development time.
I hope this is of some assistance to you.
All the best.
