I am seeking an unusual item---------a traditional cable release, not bulb, which may be 8 to 15 feet long-------------Has anyone seen such a beast, used such a beast or have suggestions when one could find such an item.

Thank you for your thoughts--Raymond

Raymond,

I've never seen one or heard of a conventional cable release that long, although they may exist. I'd think friction would be a problem. What's wrong with an air bulb-activated release that works with a conventional shutter? deGroff make them.

Alternatively, you might consider a shutter timer - but I'm not sure of your intended use.

Prontor used to make them. They were the heavy duty spiral steel type. They were very expensive and have been out of production for several years.

i just bought a twenty foot cable release from dagor 77 on ebay. it works great except it will not handle a tight bend...then it binds but you just set up with no tight bends. they are out there. frank ferreira
