Hello, can anyone tell me "anything" about the suitability of this lens as a taking lens - coverage, format use etc. I appreciate that it was designed as an enlarger lens? Thanks (as usual) Paul

Good for 8x10 ....or 11x14 at closer magnifications. It was designed as a wide field process lens rather than an enlarging type. They are pretty bulky and unless you have a specific/specialized need for this type of glass then there are smaller and lighter alternatives.

I have used one on 11X14. Just covers with some small movements. They don't really cover any better than the f9 version which weighs about 1/3. OTOH if you wanted to impress someone with the biggest front light ever witnessed, it is a pretty hunk of glass. I also seem to recall it is difficult to get the corners and the center focused at the same time. While the threads are correct for a Copal 3, the barrel body is too big to fit into a Copal 3 without some trimming of the faceplate of the shutter.

Hi,

go for the f9/270 G-Claron, apart from the shutter problem the f11 G-Claron WA is not very good at infinity either.

Best regards

Is the f11 version the "WA" or is there a G-Claron f11 (non WA)?

Paul,

to my knowlwedge there is only a 9/270 G-Claron (six-element plasmat) and a 11/270 WA-G-Claron (4-element).

Best regards

Joerg

Paul,

Ditto on the 270 f/9 G-Claron. It's one of my favorites.
